• For everyone — Abugida is built for learners of all ages and backgrounds.

Abugida (“Abugida,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a language-learning application and website (together, the “Service”) dedicated to teaching the Amharic language. This policy applies to the Abugida app, website, and any related services that link to it.

• Information you give us — When you create an account, you provide an email address and a password. You may optionally add a display name or learning preferences (for example, your goals or daily target).
• Learning activity — To teach effectively and track your progress, we record information such as lessons completed, exercise results, streaks, time spent practicing, and skill levels reached.
• Usage and analytics data — We collect information about how the Service is used such as features accessed, pages viewed, device type, operating system, app version, general location inferred from your IP address (such as country), and diagnostic data so we can improve the learning experience and fix problems.
• Payment information — If you purchase a subscription or other paid feature, our payment processors collect the details needed to complete your transaction. We do not store your full card number on our own servers; payments are handled by trusted, PCI-compliant providers.
• Communications — If you contact us for support or feedback, we keep a record of that correspondence so we can help you.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, personalize, and improve your Amharic learning experience.
• Track and display your progress, streaks, and achievements.
• Process subscriptions and payments and provide related receipts and support.
• Understand how the Service is used through analytics so we can make it better.
• Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests.
• Keep the Service secure and prevent fraud or abuse.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

We use analytics to understand how learners interact with Abugida, which lessons work well, where people get stuck, and how to teach Amharic more effectively. Wherever possible, we use this information in an aggregated or de-identified form. We use analytics to improve the Service, not to build advertising profiles about you. Abugida does not show third-party advertising and does not sell your data to advertisers.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers — trusted companies that help us operate the Service (for example, cloud hosting, payment processing, and analytics), who may only use the data to perform services for us.
• Legal reasons — when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public.
• Business transfers — if Abugida is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, and we will notify you of any change in control or use of your personal information.
• With your consent — in any other case, only when you have asked us to or agreed to it.

Protecting your information is a core commitment. We use industry-standard safeguards designed to protect your data, including:

• Strict access controls so that only authorized personnel can access personal data, and only when necessary.

No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information and to limit the data we hold in the first place.

We keep your personal information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Abugida is designed to be appropriate and welcoming for learners of all ages. We aim to keep the experience safe, respectful, and free of content unsuitable for a general audience, so that anyone who wants to learn Amharic can do so with confidence.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
